Nuns Bangs

An excellent post over at Sister Mary Martha.

I just had to share it with my readers.

Read the comments… esp the part where Sr MM tells someone (two, someones to be exact) to essentially stuff it after they stereotyped all nuns without habits as liberal New Agers. It made my day.

Thank God for balanced people!

Funny but true. So many stereotypes of sisters. I read Sr MM’s blog - it’s a treat and a riot!

Yes, it is hilarious. I came across it early on in my blogging… I wonder who the writer really is!

Thanks for the plug! You may be interested in yesterday’s post about the good old days of wearing a starched habit.

I agree and disagree with SMM’s position on the Habit. While yes, back in the day the habits were merely what everyone else wore, except with a scapular. But what about St. Francis of Asissi who wore no shoes, a simple robe with a rope tied around his waste. His brothers did the same. On their way back in from a walk one day, one of St. Francis’ brothers asked him when they would start preaching. St. Francis simply replied, “We just did.” The habit is a type of witness and it’s beautiful. While I do not judge communities who do not wear the habit, I personally think the habit is very important. Besides that, the communities that still wear a habit are the ones that are currently thriving. Just my opinion!
